Figurative Sculpture

Felicity Lloyd-Coombes

Profile
I have recently graduated from Loughborough University and I am presently starting up my own ceramics studio in Arundel, and I am keen on exhibiting my work.

I specialise in sculptural ceramics which uses mixed media. I sculpt a rough sketch of the piece in wire, which is then covered with a layer of scrim and paper clay, they are then fired and glazed. My work focuses on the anthropomorphic qualities we put upon animals in myths, legends and children’s tale. The influence these narratives have had on my work is evident, for the sculptures are often suggesting their own narrative.

Qualifications and Achievements

I have a BA Honours in 3D Design Ceramics from Loughborough University and have A levels in ceramics (A), art (C) And geography (B) as well as a range of GCSE’s including ceramics (A*) and art (A*). I have also completed the duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.

I have worked for a company called Moves who do children’s holiday camps. I was one of three staff running the art department.

Exhibitions
I have displayed my work at Loughborough Universities Degree show, New Designers in London, The Mint (Mayfair, Wigmore Street), Art In Clay at Hatfield House and The Islington Contemporary Art and Design Fair, where my sculpture was picked to be on the front of the tickets and the advertising posters.

My 2D and 3D work was chosen to represent LUSAD (Loughborough university school of art and design) whilst they are travelling around the Far East.
